Black History Month

Posted on October 11, 2024

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have had another fantastic week at Chalkhill. The whole school assembly on Monday focused on introducing Black History month and the person who key stage 2 would focus on: Walter Tull.

Next week Friday 18th October Class 3C will be performing their assembly. Reminders were given about the different colour lanyards the adults wear in the school and what each colour represents. Feel free to ask your children about this. We have now finished one week of ‘Chefs in Schools’ and their week 1 menu. The feedback from children and adults have been very positive. A massive thanks to our existing kitchen staff led by Chef Franco in taking on board the new menu and its demands.

Week commencing Monday 14th October we will be on Menu 2. Yesterday we celebrated our Cultural day, this coincided with one of our Caribbean meals prepared by our staff. The children thoroughly enjoyed this meal.

It was a joy to see so many children and staff strutting their stuff in the many colourful outfits. It was definitely one of the highlights of the week for everyone. Thank you for your contributions. We raised £230.07 which we will put towards buying well-being and cultural resources for the children.

Please have a restful, meaningful weekend.

Kind regards
Mr Cloete
