Columbia Week 2025

Posted on June 16, 2025
No Comments

On the week starting 23rd June, Chalkhill will celebrate their annual Spanish week. This year we will celebrate the amazing country of Colombia. Pupils will learn about the culture, folklore, gastronomy of the country while practicing the Spanish language.

The children will take part in:
  • A Colombian dance workshop.
  • A delicious Colombian meal will be served in the school canteen.
  • We will create a family tree by looking at the familia Madrigal from Encanto.
  • Bilingual story telling workshops.
  • We will also find out what qualities are our super powers.
  • We will make instruments out of recycled items and learn to follow the Colombian beat.

IMPORTANT!

To be able to organise all these workshops we ask for a £3 contribution to cover the cost of the artists that will lead the workshops. We also need the children to bring in empty small bottle of water, toilet rolls and empty boxes of Pringles crisps and some rice for the shakers.

THURSDAY IS NON UNIFORM DAY

( Wear blue, red, or yellow; boys can wear white and red- this is to take part in the dance workshop)
